  • TRAVIS DENNING IS GETTING READY TO RELEASE HIS NEW EP, MIGHT AS WELL BE ME.

Travis Denning is getting ready to release his new six-song EP, MIGHT AS WELL BE ME, on Friday (August 5th). The project is crafted for the stage with all of the Georgia native’s hard-charging energy and mischief-making signatures intact, but it also captures an artist maturing.

“There’s some honest songs in there, some reflective songs on where I’m at in my life, and then there’s some absolute rockers,” says Travis. “There’s some songs that I wanna play live and I want people to go ‘Dang! They brought it on that one.’”

IT MIGHT AS WELL BE ME will include the previously released tracks “Buy A Girl A Drink” and “She’s On It,” a thoughtful track that contemplates a mistake that can’t be fixed. On “Don’t Give a Truck,” Denning’s playful personality doesn’t just lead the party, it helps drop some heartfelt wisdom with a pure country turn of phrase. With the nostalgia-tinged “River Named Mississippi,” Travis is in all new territory. “Red Round Here,” is a rollicking roadhouse banger and the serene “If You Need Anything Down Here” finds him pledging undying support to a fallen friend.

The title for the EP came from the barn-burning “Red Round Here,” which Travis felt summed up the whole collection of songs. He co-wrote the track with Chris LaCorte and Hardy.
“There’s a lot of cool things about this song that somebody’s gotta drive the bus, and somebody’s gotta do these things, somebody’s gotta be the president. Of all things in this world, everybody’s gotta do something and if I gotta do something I would like for it to be to start the party, and that’s on stage, in real life, and that’s definitely on this record so that’s why I made it this first song,” says Travis. “I named the EP ‘Might As Well Be Me,’ which is really the pay-off of the chorus — ‘somebody’s gotta keep it red round here and it might as well be me.’ I just thought that sentence felt so much bigger than just the hook of this song and back to why I cut these songs, it was like I might as well just do exactly what I wanna do and don’t worry about anything else and it felt like a great way to sum up all the songs on it.”

MIGHT AS WELL BE ME Official Tracklist:

    1. Red Round Here
    2. River Named Mississippi
    3. Buy A Girl A Drink
    4. Don’t Give A Truck
    5. She’s On It
    6. If You Need Anything Down Here

“I wrote this song with Chris LaCorte and Hardy, and Hardy is very much affluent in the redneck-ology, so I knew when I had this title, I wanted to write it with him. He absolutely brought it. I knew the second we wrote it, I wanted to cut it because it made me want to drink a beer. There’s a lot of cool things about this song that somebody’s gotta drive the bus, and somebody’s gotta do these things, somebody’s gotta be the president. Of all things in this world, everybody’s gotta do something and if I gotta do something I would like for it to be to start the party, and that’s on stage, in real life, and that’s definitely on this record so that’s why I made it this first song. • TUNE IN: JON PARDI TO PERFORM CHART-CLIMBING “LAST NIGHT LONELY” ON THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON (8/9).

Jon Pardi will perform his chart-rising single “Last Night Lonely” on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Tuesday (8/9), airing at 11:35pm ET/10:35pm CT.

Catapulting into country radio’s Top 5 as one of Pardi’s fastest-rising singles to date, “Last Night Lonely” is the fiddle and steel-drenched lead track from his upcoming fourth studio album, Mr. Saturday Night, out September 2nd. Pardi recently shared the project’s title track, with Billboard praising his “signature neo-traditional country” and “clever play on words,” while CMT claims it’s a “quintessential honky-tonk standard.”

Mr. Saturday Night is produced by Bart Butler, Ryan Gore and Pardi, the same team behind the boards of his ACM and CMA Album of The Year-nominated Heartache Medication. With 14 songs steeped in losing, a little loving and what’s in between, Pardi digs beneath the surface on Mr. Saturday Night, returning the genre to an era of buckle-polishing dancefloor encounters, yowling bar-room revelers and the occasional strong, silent type ballad.

Pardi’s headlining AIN’T ALWAYS THE COWBOY TOUR hits the West Coast this week, with stops in Inglewood, CA (8/4) and Santa Barbara, CA (8/5), before capping off the weekend in Las Vegas, NV (8/6). Luke Bryan (CMA Fest 2022) OC: …experience. :56
“It was crazy. To leave the stadium and over 80,000 people and go straight to Blake’s bar for the Spotify event. And I got a little carried away. I never get to play rowdy bars anymore, so after I kinda got to roast Blake, I attempted to sing ‘Some Beach,’ and I did not know any of the words-sorry, Blake. Anyway, just being in his bar, I got in front of the crowd and I really kind of got caught up in the moment and played for maybe a little too long. But then, after I got done there, I ran across the street to my bar. I bought my whole bar a Two Lane (beer) and it was just a wild night and so good being in the mix in CMA Music Fest with all the fans doing a concert, bar hopping to Blake’s bar (and) my bar. It was a pretty crazy experience.”

I just feel like not having a proper CMA Fest was just kind of gut-wrenching. But people are excited-the fans are excited, the performers are excited, I’m excited, so it’s gonna be a good time.”

Tyler Hubbard (new season of life) OC: …our life. 1:20

“It feels exciting. It feels new, and it just feels personal as well. I think that’s a key word that that I really am leaning into, and it’s been fun, and now having this new perspective and this new opportunity for both of us to get to to pick songs and to write songs from our voice and our personal life and kind of let the fans in on a little bit deeper level of who we are personally as an individual, as opposed to a brand or a band is just it’s empowering. It’s really cool. I would say it’s almost forced me to do some self-discovery, you know, and figure out what is my story exactly what do I want to what is my legacy, what do I want my music to say? Because now my name is attached to it, which automatically adds this extra level of like, I don’t know, responsibility, maybe, or maybe pressure at times, but also heart and passion. You know, it really, it just stimulates that makes you want to pour your heart and soul into this stuff and make sure that it’s who you are and what you want to say. And I think that that’s been really healthy for this season of our creative journey or our career. The last ten years have been incredible, but there’s something new and fresh and fun about where we’re both at right now. And we’re just channeling that. And, you know, I hope the fans enjoy getting to be or getting to see a little bit deeper into our life.”
