• RHYTHM, REBELLION AND RESPECT RATTLE ERIC CHURCH’S SOUL.

Reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year and 10-time GRAMMY nominee Eric Church continues to give fans new music with today’s release of Soul, the third chapter of his critically acclaimed Heart & Soul trilogy. Featuring nine songs, including current Top 10 single “Hell Of A View,” the album is the final installment of music from his now-famous sequestered session in rural North Carolina early last year.

“The thing that made it three projects, to me, was the songs grouped together differently,” Church recently explained to Rolling Stone regarding his decision to split the music into a triple album. “Once they started grouping up is when I truly saw the project. Before that, I loved the recordings… but I couldn’t figure out: what is this? I think a listening experience should be condensed; this is what it is – it’s meant to be done and then you move to the next one – and I think that’s where we came up with the three albums.”

The full three-part project has already garnered significant praise from fans and critics alike, with The Wall Street Journal noting “Eric Church and company have stepped up to the challenge of delivering more than a double album’s worth of pointed, memorable recordings for tough times, with frankness, hope – and engaging sounds.”

Heart & Soul is a concept record of sorts,” adds Rolling Stone in the lead review of the April print magazine, “about the everlasting power of music – the music he makes and the music he loves, which spans the gamut from the Doors to Bobbie Gentry to Elvis and Guns N’ Roses.”

Indeed, even within the themed grouping of Soul tracks, Church offers a breadth of musical influences and deliveries, with Billboard proclaiming that “each song tells its own full, vivid story with no word or note wasted.”

Opener “Rock & Roll Found Me” is a direct reflection of the immensely creative state Church found himself in during the monthlong consistency of producing new song ideas daily. The song’s title was inspired by a single line from the “Rocketman” Elton John biopic, which Church watched with his family in an attempted reset between scheduled writes.

“There’s a line when he stands up and he says, ‘I was however many years old when rock and roll found me,’” Church notes. “As soon as I heard it, I asked my wife to pause the movie and I picked up a guitar that was beside me and wrote ‘Rock & Roll Found Me.’ That’s all it took – I was so in tune with creativity at that point in time that it was all I needed to hear for a song to pour out of me.”

From rebellious numbers “Break It Kind Of Guy” and “Bad Mother Trucker” to funky, playful takes on romance in “Look Good And You Know It” and “Where I Wanna Be,” as well as bare-boned ballads “Bright Side Girl,” “Jenny” and “Lynyrd Skynyrd Jones,” each track further reveals the results of Church’s uniquely creative writing and recording process.

Fans can hear these new songs and more as Church’s longstanding SiriusXM show, Outsiders Radio, takes over Y2Kountry on SiriusXM Channel 61 for the second straight weekend (starting today, April 23, and running through this Sunday, April 25). In addition to sharing brand new songs from Soul, the programming will also feature music from Church’s personal playlist as well as live shows recorded during past tours.

Church plans to hit the road for a brand new tour this fall, appropriately titled The Gather Again Tour. As part of what Billboard described as “Church’s crusade to get fans vaccinated – and bring concerts back,” he has planned a 55-city run of full-capacity arena dates through the U.S. and Canada, kicking off this September in Lexington, Ky. and wrapping in May 2022 at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden. Church Choir pre-sales begin Tuesday, May 4 with tickets on sale to the general public beginning Friday, May 7. A full list of dates is available HERE.

    About Eric Church
Reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year and 10-time GRAMMY nominee Eric Church has spent the past year-plus releasing new music at a relentless pace; providing a glimpse into the marathon session during which he spent nearly a month writing and recording a song per day – including current Top 10 single “Hell of a View” – while sequestered in rural North Carolina. The resulting project, his critically acclaimed new triple album, Heart & Soul, is available now.

Just as unique as Church’s approach to recording and releasing music is his tenacity on the road. During his most recent outing, 2019’s Double Down Tour, Church played back-to-back nights of two unique shows in each market sans opening act, giving every city’s fans six-plus hours of his iconic music. The tour also featured a massive stop at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where he broke the venue’s concert attendance record with more than 56,000 fans in attendance and became the first artist to sell out the venue with a solo lineup. Church also took to the field at Tampa Bay’s Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, February 7 to perform the National Anthem with R&B star Jazmine Sullivan ahead of Super Bowl LV and will return to the road for The Gather Again Tour this fall.

A seven-time ACM Award winner, four-time CMA Award winner, and 10-time GRAMMY nominee, Church has amassed a passionate fanbase around the globe known as the Church Choir as well as a critically acclaimed catalog of music. His previous album, Desperate Man, earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album (his third nod in the category) and produced his most recent No. 1 hit, “Some Of It.” Additional releases include the Platinum-certified Sinners Like Me (“How ’Bout You,” “Guys Like Me”), Carolina (“Smoke a Little Smoke,” “Love Your Love the Most”) and Mr. Misunderstood (“Record Year,” “Round Here Buzz”), the Double-Platinum certified The Outsiders (“Like a Wrecking Ball,” “Talladega”) and the 3x Platinum-certified Chief (“Springsteen,” “Drink In My Hand”)as well as 22 Gold, Platinum and multi-Platinum certified singles.

Audio / Eric Church cites the Elton John movie, Rocketman, as the inspiration behind the song “Rock and Roll Found Me” from his upcoming Soul album.

Eric Church (Rock And Roll Found Me) OC: …needed to hear. :52
“We were watching the Elton John Rocketman, and there’s a line in that movie. I was off. Normally what I would do, I would take a day like Sunday, and we’d let the writers change out, so that was my day to kind of try to get away for a second and wait on the next group to come in, maybe work on stuff. And we have a place up there, so my family was up and I went over to see my wife and my kids. My wife and I were watching Rocketman, the Elton John movie, and there’s a line, I think he’s in rehab or something like that when he stands up and he said, ‘I was (however many years old) when rock and roll found me.’ And I immediately as soon as I heard it, I thought, ‘Ah.’ I said, I just told her, ‘Just pause it.’ And I grabbed the guitar that was beside me and I went to the kitchen, and I wrote ‘Rock and Roll Found Me,’ and that’s all it took. It just took that one line, and I was enough in tune with creativity at that point in time that that’s all I needed to hear.”

  • CHRIS STAPLETON TAKES “STARTING OVER” TO NO. 1.

Chris Stapleton‘s “Starting Over” vaulted to the top of the Country Aircheck/Mediabase Country Chart. The title track from his acclaimed new album, “Starting Over” was written by Stapleton and Mike Henderson and is only his second chart-topping single as an artist following 2018’s “Broken Halos (also written by Stapleton and Henderson).

This latest achievement comes ahead of this Sunday’s 56th ACM Awards (April 18th) where Stapleton leads nominees with six nominations in four categories: Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (Starting Over as both artist and producer) and Song of the Year (“Starting Over” as both artist and songwriter). Stapleton will also perform on the awards ceremony, which will broadcast from various venues in Nashville on CBS this Sunday, April 18th at 8:00pm ET/7:00pm CT.

The nominations celebrate yet another monumental year for Stapleton following the release Starting Over, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart this past November.  Out now on Mercury Records Nashville (stream/purchase here), Starting Over is an album of startling prescience, featuring fourteen tracks that examine life’s simplest joys and most serious struggles. Once again produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb, the record continues to receive overwhelming critical praise and landed on several “Best of 2020” lists including NPR Music, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Esquire, Vulture, The Tennessean and The New York Times, who declares, “Chris Stapleton’s roar isn’t designed to scare you off. It’s regal, an announcement of an alpha figure asserting his primacy…on this, his fourth album, the thrill is back.”

Recent critical acclaim for Starting Over:

“Chris Stapleton may have the album of the year with Starting Over”—American Songwriter

    “a sure-footed masterpiece…one of the year’s finest albums”—Associated Press

“Simply put, there are few recording artists in country operating at Stapleton’s level, and Starting Over keeps the bar very high.” —Billboard

“a dynamite and dynamic new album from the mighty-voiced Kentucky native…the singer-songwriter is hitting new heights, nailing the crossroads of country, rock, gospel, and pop across 14 tracks.”—Entertainment Weekly

“He has nothing left to prove, but somehow, he just gets incrementally better…This is as good as any of his albums and maybe just a tad better.”—Glide

“mixes beautifully stark songwriting with blues, country, and rock melodies, allowing Stapleton’s sturdy, propulsive vocals to carry the show”—GQ

vividly exemplifies the complex emotional character of Stapleton’s best music. He’s burly but soft. Tough yet vulnerable. A protector of his loved ones and a man in perpetual search of shelter.”—Los Angeles Times

“What makes Starting Over unique is its emotional center…Stapleton cuts through the tangled jungle of pre-COVID life like a machete, clearing a new path forward.”—Nashville Lifestyles

“Chris is at the top of his game with this record. It sounds like a record from a great.”
    NPR Music

Starting Over may be Stapleton’s best album yet…every song on the album comes as a perfectly wrapped gift to the listener”—No Depression

“The chill Nashville trailblazer feels at home in songs that echo his pop songwriting and his
    country roots.”—Rolling Stone

“if Starting Over offers a statement of principles, it’s that Stapleton is going to make Stapleton music, equal parts country, Southern rock, raw sentimentality, and self-reflective singer-songwriter-ism.”—Slate

With Starting Over, Stapleton’s distinguished voice and artist’s soul shine.”
    Sounds Like Nashville

“It is easily one of the best records I’ve heard this year. It’s easily one of the best country records I’ve heard in a long time. And I have no doubt it’s going to be one of the best country records I’ve heard this decade once everything is said and done.”—The Needle Drop

“lands precisely where country meets Southern soul: with grit, details, clarity and ache.”
    The New York Times

“the results are stunning…his most personal work yet.”—The Ringer

“expands a sonic identity and storytelling fervor that Stapleton established on his paramount debut, Traveller, and its two-part follow-up, From A Room Vol. 1 and Vol. 2.”—The Tennessean

He has [Willie] Nelson’s tender touch, but his bluesy side is much louder; his is a part-acoustic, part-stinging approach in which Nelson’s Trigger meets B.B. King’s Lucille.”—Variety

“It’s every bit the tour de force his breakthrough album was…Elegant writing and delicate musicianship combine in an album ranking among the year’s best.”—Vulture

Reba McEntire is set to release her new song, “Somehow You Do,” from the movie Four Good Days tomorrow (April 22nd). The film, starring Glenn Close and Mila Kunis, is about an addict (Kunis) who leaves a detox clinic and goes to live with her mother (Close) and fights to stay clean for at least four days.

Even though the film’s storyline is specific, Reba says fans will find “Somehow You Do” very relatable.

“I definitely feel like the fans can relate to the overall message of this song,” says Reba. “It does give hope when you’re down, depressed and you’re having problems in life. This song gives hope, and that’s what we all need.”

  • KEITH URBAN PREMIERES NEW VIDEO FOR “OUT THE CAGE” FEATURING BRELAND, NILE RODGERS.

“The freneticism of the rhythm makes me wanna take off and start running or……just break something,” says Keith Urban of his song “Out The Cage,” which sees the debut of its music video today.   As with his current single “One Too Many,” Urban’s duet with P!nk, “Out The Cage” features an unlikely collaboration that includes a legendary funk master and a country-trap, artist.

As Breland tells it he received an out-of-the-blue text from Urban.  “We should get together and write sometime – see what happens.” So, I said I’d be there tomorrow.  I mean, working with Keith Urban?  I was like, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity!”

“It’s 9:30 the next morning, my phone rings and it’s Breland,” explains the four-time Grammy© Award winner.  “He says, ‘Hey, Keith.  It’s Breland.  I’m in your front yard.’   And along with the help of co-writers Sam Sumser and Sean Small comes “Out The Cage,” from Urban’s #1 album THE SPEED OF NOW Part 1.

The video, which Urban and Breland shot in Sydney (following a two-week quarantine) is a frantically paced, quick cut stream of imagery and performance that captures Out The Cage’s driving intensity, as well as the combustibility of the creative relationship between Breland and Urban.  Add to the mix legendary funk master and Chic co-founder Nile Rodgers, who filmed his part from Connecticut, and this video lives up to its name.

“I get a phone call from Keith – and he’s my bro – so of course I jumped on the call,” says Rodgers.  He says, ‘Hey Nile, I got this song that I’m working on, can I send it to you?’  I listened for about 5 minutes” and as Urban tells it, “He called me 10 minutes later and said, ‘yo brother, this song is sick.”

“Out The Cage” was one of four tracks written during the Covid lockdown, with the lyrical content exploring themes of freedom. “I really wanted this to speak to liberation of all sorts, even if somebody in a dead-end job, somebody stuck in a relationship that’s going nowhere or someone who’s imprisoned in their own mind.” said Urban.

Urban’s latest album, THE SPEED OF NOW Part 1, marks the fourth in an historic streak of simultaneous #1 album debuts in the United States, Canada and Australia also features the international hits “Polaroid,” and “Superman.”
