  • BROTHERS OSBORNE MAKE THEIR GRAND OLE OPRY DEBUT.

Brothers Osborne made their debut performance at the world-renowned Grand Ole Opry Tuesday night (April 19th). Performing their brand new single “21 Summer,” and the Gold-Certified, GRAMMY-nominated No.1 hit “Stay A Little Longer” off their debut album Pawn Shop, Brothers Osborne highlighted why critics and audiences alike have praised “TJ’s beguiling baritone and John’s nimble fretwork” (Boston Globe).

“We fulfilled a lifelong dream last night,” says TJ. “Standing in that circle as many have done before was one of the highest honors we’ve ever been given.” John notes, “you could almost feel the ghosts resonating out of the oak. We will never take that night for granted.”

The Maryland natives will next perform at Jazzfest in New Orleans, LA before hitting the road as part of Miranda Lambert’s Keeper Of The Flame Tour. Additional upcoming notable appearances include Florida Country Superfest in Daytona, FL and Dylan Fest at the famed Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN along with Emmylou Harris, Jason Isbell and Kacey Musgraves.

  • NEWS AND NOTES: Brothers, Paslay, Canaan, Pardi, Dierks, Hillary, Chris, Clare

Brothers Osborne, Eric Paslay, Canaan Smith, Jon Pardi and many others have been added to the lineup at the Riverfront Stage during this year’s CMA Music Fest, running Thursday, June 9th through Sunday, June 12th.

Dierks Bentley held a surprise pop-up show in Knoxville, Tennessee over the weekend. The event, which took place at a local hotspot, The International, will be seen next month on CMT. The CMT Instant Jam with Dierks is set to debut May 28th at 9pm ET.

Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott performed at the Stand Up to Cancer benefit, chaired by Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth, as well as MasterCard President and CEO Ajay Banga and his wife Ritu. The gala event over the weekend raised more than $42 million and also featured performances by Sheryl Crow, Tony Bennett and Jamie Foxx. Also in attendance were the event’s co-founder Katie Couric, Alec Baldwin, Joe Torre, Maura Tierney and Donna Karan. Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) raises funds to accelerate the pace of research to get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now.

Chris Stapleton is featured (sort of) in Jake Owen’s new video for “American Love Song.” Jake is wearing one of Chris’ tour T-shirts in the clip.

Clare Dunn recently shot the video for her single, “Tuxedo,” at a farm south of Nashville. The clip will hit the airwaves in the coming weeks.

  • UMG NASHVILLE ARTISTS REACT TO THE PASSING OF THE LEGENDARY MERLE HAGGARD

Country Music has lost a legend. Merle Haggard, who turned 79 today, died Wednesday (April 6th) in California, surrounded by friends and family. The Country Music Hall of Famer had been in failing health for quite some time, diagnosed with double pneumonia in December, which led to the cancellation of several dates, including a two-night stand at the Ryman Auditorium.

Haggard had 40 No. 1 songs, including “Mama Tried,” “Workin’ Man Blues,” “Okie From Muskogee” and “The Fightin’ Side of Me” and wrote many classics, some of which had been recorded by folks such as Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Vince Gill, who is a lifelong fan of the iconic entertainer.

“I‘ve been a [Merle] Haggard nut my whole life,” says Vince Gill, who along with his pal Paul Franklin released Bakersfield album in 2013 (a collaborative tribute of Merle Haggard and Buck Owens songs). “And I’ve played country music, recorded country music my whole life, and I’ve tried to emulate what I loved about Merle Haggard on a lot of occasions.”

Many of country music’s brightest stars took to Twitter to offer their thoughts:

For Eric Church, he wrote and recorded “Pledge Allegiance to the Hag” for his Sinners Like Me album. The song also featured the subject of the song, Mr. Merle Haggard.

    Keith Urban ‏@KeithUrban
“One of the gr8 concert memories I have is seeing Merle and the Strangers at the Ryman in Nashville. We had a ‘live’ album of his when I was growing up and I felt like I’d fallin’ inside my Dad’s stereo speakers. One of my all time favorite voices – and a master songwriter. Blessings to your soulful spirit Merle & all of you family & loved ones.” – KU

He was a legend and I was honored whenever we got the chance to share a stage with him. Thank you for the inspiration, the advice and for always being you. I, as well as the entire music community, will miss you Merle.”

    Darius Rucker ‏@dariusrucker
“Heaven’s band just got better! RIP to the LEGENDARY @merlehaggard. Your music will never die!”

    Jon Pardi ‏@JonPardi
“Sad day today @merlehaggard has passed. RIP to a true songwriter, a pioneer of California Country, and country music.”

    Kip Moore ‏@KipMooreMusic
“RIP Merle…you paved the way for so many. You had what we all hope for…a voice that matters and survives the ever changing trends.”

Josh Turner ‏@joshturnermusic  5m5 minutes ago
“Pains me to say that country music icon @merlehaggard has passed away. So honored to have known him and shared the stage with him. Thanks Merle for all you’ve done for us!”

    Mickey Guyton ‏@MickeyGuyton
“RIP Merle Haggard. Heaven’s choir just got a heck of a lot better.”

For David Nail, seeing Merle in concert was a life-changing experience. “The night I saw Merle At the Golden Nugget, it was the single greatest combination of seeing an artist/venue/city together, that I’ve ever witnessed.  It was a spiritual experience.  I looked at my buddy multiple times in disbelief that we were actually there.  I teared up on a few songs.  I knew the greatness I was seeing/hearing.”

George Strait was a huge fan of Merle Haggard’s. He says, “When I was in the Army and stationed at Schofield barracks in Hawaii, you know Merle came there, and he played Conroy Bowl.  And I remember I was playing an NCO club that night, and before my little gig, I got to run over there and I kinda snuck in and saw Merle and it just blew me away. That’s what I wanted to be like, you know, I wanted to be like the Hag. And so, I can’t tell you how big of an influence he was on me, just huge.”

Strait also posted a reaction on his socials: “It’s a very sad day for all of us Hag fans. He was a true icon of the music world and it’s hard to believe we won’t be able to see him anymore. I honestly think that had it not been for him, I would not have chosen the path that I chose.” – G

  • BROTHERS OSBORNE ARE SET TO HIT THE ROAD WITH MIRANDA LAMBERT.

Brothers Osborne will hit the road with Miranda Lambert and Kip Moore on the Keeper of the Flame Tour later this year, and they are excited to tour with the Female Vocalist.

“That’s an artist that we love and respect and she puts out great music, and I think we work well with musically,” says TJ Osborne. “So, we’re definitely super-stoked to be out with her and Kip [Moore].”

Brothers Osborne have two nominations for this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards, including Vocal Duo and New Vocal Duo of the Year. The ACMs will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas April 3rd at 8pm ET on CBS.

Brothers Osborne (Miranda) OC: …and Kip. :23
TJ: “We played a show with Miranda up in Wisconsin, and we watched her and thought, ‘Man! She is so badass.’ And we would’ve loved to play with her, and just only a few months later, she asked us to be a part of her tour and we instantly jumped right on it. That’s an artist that we love and respect and she puts out great music, and I think we work well with musically. So, we’re definitely super-stoked to be out with her and Kip [Moore].”

  • BROTHERS OSBORNE CELEBRATE THEIR FIRST NO. 1 JUST ‘A LITTLE LONGER.’

Brothers Osborne celebrated their recent chart topping success for “Stay a Little Longer” with a party in their honor at a local Nashville hotspot on Tuesday afternoon (March 1st). The guys scored their first No. 1 this year, and it’s been a long, but fruitful, journey for the pair.

“I think one of the things that separates people that are in the music industry or the entertainment industry from a lot of other people isn’t necessarily the fact that we’re more talented or we’re luckier or anything like that, we just keep showing up. And that’s the hardest thing. That’s the hardest thing,” says John Osborne. “You’ve got to keep showing up and you’ve got to keep getting turned down over and over and over and over. And it’s about getting back up and just wiping the dust off yourself and going back in there and getting denied again, and then you do it again and again and again, because there’s something inside you compelling you to do that.”

The Delaware duo, who just released their new single, “21 Summer,” is nominated for two ACM Awards – Vocal Duo and New Vocal Duo of the Year. The 51st Academy of Country Music Awards will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas April 3rd at 8pm ET/delayed PT on CBS.

Audio / Prior to the duo’s first No. 1 party for “Stay a Little Longer,” John Osborne of Brothers Osborne talks to journalists about the determination and tenacity it takes for an artist, musician or entertainment to make it.

Brothers Osborne (keep showing up) OC: …to do that. :42
JOHN: “It’s been an amazing journey. It doesn’t matter who you are, if it takes a day for you to become successful, you would want it to take half a day. You always want it to happen sooner than later. I think one of the things that separates people that are in the music industry or the entertainment industry from a lot of other people isn’t necessarily the fact that we’re more talented or we’re luckier or anything like that, we just keep showing up. And that’s the hardest thing. That’s the hardest thing. You’ve got to keep showing up and you’ve got to keep getting turned down over and over and over and over. And it’s about getting back up and just wiping the dust off yourself and going back in there and getting denied again, and then you do it again and again and again, because there’s something inside you compelling you to do that.”

[NOTE: BEEP below] Brothers Osborne (No. 1 is incredible moment) OC: …personally. :54
JOHN: “I’ve been in Nashville for 15 years, and TJ has been here for 12, 13, and that’s awesome, because that’s been 15 years of kicking and fighting and saying yes and not sleeping and literally being sick and showing up and getting turned down again, and doing it because you love it so much. The reason why we get so emotional in those moments is because when we were told finally you have a No. 1 song on country radio, all of those moments come rushing back in because you suppress them because you don’t want to let them fuel you. It’s absolutely [beep] incredible, and there’s no other way to explain it for me than that. I will forever be grateful for the work that my brother’s put in, our label’s put in, Shane [McAnally] and the country music community has put in because this is one of the greatest moments of my life personally.”

  • BROTHERS OSBORNE’S ’21 SUMMER’ IS THE NO. 1 MOST ADDED SONG AT COUNTRY RADIO THIS WEEK.

Brothers Osborne earns the No.1 most added song at Country radio this week with their new single “21 Summer”. Following the duo’s RIAA Gold-Certified and GRAMMY-nominated No.1 hit “Stay A Little Longer,” John and TJ Osborne co-wrote “21 Summer” with Craig Wiseman. The breezy tune is featured on their debut album, Pawn Shop, which the Associated Press notes “establishes a slyly funky style of their own.” Praised by the Dallas Observer as “good old-fashioned country with incredible appeal for the mainstream,” Pawn Shop debuted at No.3 on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart and No.10 on the Billboard Top Albums Chart.

Nominated for both Vocal Duo of the Year and New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year at next month’s 51st Annual ACM Awards, Brothers Osborne recently wrapped up touring with Jon Pardi as part of the All Time High Tour. This summer, fans can catch the Maryland natives on Miranda Lambert’s Keeper of the Flame Tour along with Kip Moore.

  • BROTHERS OSBORNE READY TO HIT THE AIRWAVES WITH ’21 SUMMER.’

Brothers Osborne are getting ready to hit the airwaves with their new single, “21 Summer,” which was a slightly different feel to the original version they first recorded.

“Jay had the idea for the song, and it was kind of weird because people loved the original version we had, and we knew people were probably not gonna like the fact that it was changed,” says TJ Osborne. “He’s like, ‘I think it would be really cool to have a song that was a little more, felt like you could put on and it’d just be chill.’ A lot of country records don’t really have that; they’re a little bit more kind of attention grabbing. And so, we loved that idea. We have those songs that are kind of a little bit more in your face, but it’d be cool to have a song that was just very relaxed and kind of almost have that kind of California country thing to it.”

The pair will hit the road with Miranda Lambert and Kip Moore on the Keeper of the Flame Tour later this year.

But Jay, it was really his idea. He’s like, I think it would be really cool to have a song that was a little more, felt like you could put on and it’d just be chill. You could sit on your back porch and just hang out and have a conversation, and it’d just be a song that was playing. A lot of country records don’t really have that; they’re a little bit more kind of attention grabbing. And so, we loved that idea. • BROTHERS OSBORNE ARE GRATEFUL TO SCORE THEIR FIRST NO. 1 SINGLE.

    Attachment-1

Brothers Osborne scored their very first No. 1 single with “Stay a Little Longer” this week. The sibling duo wrote the RIAA Gold-certified single “Stay A Little Longer” with good friend Shane McAnally.

“It’s crazy. Honestly, it’s beyond surreal,” says TJ Osborne. “It’s hard for me to describe it really. I just feel really just more grateful than anything.”  John Osborne agrees. “Yeah, it’s hard to explain because we spend so much time working and playing and performing and writing that we kind of lose perspective sometimes as to like actually progress is being made. And for this to happen for us, especially at this point in our careers, is one of the highest honors that we could ever ask for, and it’s definitely something that we’ll never forget for the rest of our lives.”

The hit single, which is nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance at next month’s GRAMMY Awards, is featured on their debut album Pawn Shop which debuted at No.3 on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart and No.10 on the Billboard Top Albums Chart. Pawn Shop continues to garner critical acclaim with Rolling Stone calling it “one of the best rock records in a long while.” Produced by Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Little Big Town), Newsday gives the album an A- and SPIN notes the “lyrical thoughtfulness, character of the production, and the sheer quality of the playing are all exemplary.”

Brothers Osborne recently made their national TV debut on NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and “TODAY.” They are currently touring with Jon Pardi on the All Time High Tour and will join Miranda Lambert in addition to Kip Moore as part of the Keeper Of The Flame Tour this summer. Brothers Osborne (#1) OC: (John) …of our lives. :53
TJ: “I mean it’s crazy! There’s so many different achievements that you want as an artist and as a writer. To have a No. 1, it’s one of those things that out of all of the work you put in to it, to be able to have it pay off and to work and have the fans out there and the radio stations out there support us, it’s crazy. It takes a lot of people to join in on this and to get a song up to No. 1. So, it’s crazy. Honestly, it’s beyond surreal. It’s hard for me to describe it really. I just feel really just more grateful than anything.” JOHN: “Yeah, it’s hard to explain because we spend so much time working and playing and performing and writing that we kind of lose perspective sometimes as to like actually progress is being made.
