  • CHRIS STAPLETON’S HIGHER OUT NOVEMBER 10TH; FIRST SINGLE “WHITE HORSE” AT RADIO NOW!

Chris Stapleton’s highly anticipated new album, Higher, will be released November 10th on Mercury Nashville (pre-order/pre-save). In advance of the release, the album’s first single, “White Horse,” written by Stapleton and Dan Wilson, is out today — listen HERE.

Produced by Dave Cobb, Morgane Stapleton, and Stapleton, Higher was recorded at Nashville’s RCA Studio A. Across its 14 songs, Stapleton showcases his supernatural voice and musical versatility with songs that span genres and defy easy categorization. Alongside Stapleton (vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, slide electric guitar), the album features Cobb (acoustic guitar, eclectic guitar), J.T. Cure (bass), Paul Franklin (pedal steel), Derek Mixon (drums), Morgane (background vocals, synthesizer, tambourine), and Lee Pardini (organ, piano).

Known for his electric live performances, the 8x Grammy, 15x CMA and 15x ACM Award-winner is currently in the midst of his extensive “All-American Road Show” tour and joins George Strait for select stadium shows this summer including two shows next Friday and Saturday at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium.

One of the country’s most respected and beloved musicians, in the past year Stapleton was named Entertainer of the Year at the 58th ACM Awards — resulting in a prestigious ACM Triple Crown Award — and Male Vocalist of the Year at the 2022 CMA Awards — his sixth time earning the award, setting the record for most wins ever in the category. Additionally, in February, he performed the National Anthem at Super Bowl LVII and has collaborated in recent years with Adele, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake, P!nk, Sheryl Crow, Santana, and many more.

The new album follows 2020’s acclaimed Starting Over, which went on to win three awards at the 67th Annual GRAMMYs: Best Country Album, Best Country Solo Performance (“You Should Probably Leave”) and Best Country Song (“Cold”) in addition to earning Album of the Year honors at both the CMA and ACM Awards. Called a “a sure-footed masterpiece” by the Associated Press, the album landed on “Best of 2020” lists at NPR MusicRolling StoneBillboardEsquire, VultureThe Tennessean, and The New York Times, who declared, “Chris Stapleton’s roar isn’t designed to scare you off. It’s regal, an announcement of an alpha figure asserting his primacy…on this, his fourth album, the thrill is back.” Prior to Starting Over, Stapleton released a pair of Platinum-certified releases in 2017 — From A Room: Volume 1 and From A Room: Volume 2 — as well as his 5x Platinum breakthrough solo debut album in 2015, Traveller.

In addition to their work as musicians, the Stapletons are founders of the Outlaw State of Kind charitable fund, which supports a variety of causes that are close to their heart.

Chris Stapleton (Higher song) OC: …to me. :22
“’Higher’ is a song that’s been around a long, long time. I wrote it in 2001 within the first few months of being a professional songwriter here in Nashville, and it was on the first demo session I ever did in Nashville. So, for it to come around 22 years later and wind up being a title track of an album is a pretty unique thing to me.”

  • CHRIS STAPLETON RELEASES NEW SINGLE “WHITE HORSE;” ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM, HIGHER, OUT IN NOVEMBER.

Chris Stapleton has released his new single, “White Horse,” which he co-wrote with Dan Wilson. The song was written over a decade ago when Dan and Chris were asked to write a song for a movie, however, it didn’t make the final cut of the film.

“’White Horse’ was a song that I wrote with my friend, Dan Wilson,” says Chris. “We were out in Los Angeles, it was about I think probably late 2012, early 2013, and there was a movie called the Lone Ranger that was coming out, and I walked in the room to write with Dan at his house, and he said, ‘Hey they’re looking for songs for this Lone Ranger movie.’ I said, ‘Cool. Let’s write something. What do you know about it?’ He goes, ‘Well, we don’t really know anything.’ I was like, ‘Well, let’s just make a song that might sound like that.’ And so, that’s kind of where that came from, and we got to talking about how it would be cool to have a kind of rock-driven-western-themed song, and that’s kind of where the song came from and we kind of built it around a guitar riff, really.”

Chris co-produced “White Horse” with Dave Cobb and his wife Morgane Stapleton.

    WHITE HORSE LYRICS:

This love is getting kinda dangerous
Feels like it’s a loaded gun
My mind, it’s turning like a cloud of dust
My heart always wants to run

    Oh Oh Oh
If you want a cowboy on a white horse
    Riding off into the sunset
If that’s the kinda love you wanna wait for
Hold on tight girl I ain’t there yet
    No I ain’t there yet
    No I ain’t there yet

    White Horse

Someday maybe you could have your way
Right now’s just not the time
Some things a man’s just got to do
I wish you could change my mind

    Oh Oh Oh
If you want a cowboy on a white horse
    Riding off into the sunset
If that’s the kinda love you wanna wait for
Hold on tight girl I ain’t there yet
    No I ain’t there yet
    No I ain’t there yet

    White Horse

If you want a cowboy on a white horse
    Riding off into the sunset
If that’s the kinda love you wanna wait for
Hold on tight girl I ain’t there
If you want a cowboy on a white horse
    Riding off into the sunset
If that’s the kinda love you wanna wait for
Hold on tight girl I ain’t there yet
    No I ain’t there yet

  • CHRIS STAPLETON’S AWARDS ARE FOR THE FANS.

Chris Stapleton just won the ACM Award for Entertainer of the Year, and fans may be able to see the trophy on the road. The phenomenal singer-songwriter takes some of the many 60+ awards he has received go on the road or are on display at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

“Some of ‘em, we put ‘em out on the road in the VIP section for people to see, for the fans to see. That’s who they belong to,” says the Kentucky native. “I don’t feel like they really belong to me. I don’t have ‘em in my house or anything like that. So, I don’t sit around in a shrine of myself or anything. We try to make sure the fans get to see ‘em and enjoy ‘em as much as possible in the moments that can make that happen. Some of ‘em are in the Country Music Hall of Fame and places where they can be enjoyed by the people that got me to where I earn them.”

In what could be the most iconic photo of the night (along with Lainey Wilson’s inspiring quote), Chris was captured by photographer John Shearer helping “to clean up” after the show.

  • ACM 2023: Chris Stapleton Named Entertainer of the Year

Chris Stapleton picked up his first ACM Entertainer of the Year award at Thursday night’s (May 11th) ACM Awards.

After kissing his wife Morgane, Chris stepped up to accept his award from presenter Trisha Yearwood and he looked visibly shaken. “Well, I’m shocked — truly. By any imaginable metric I don’t deserve this, but thank you,” he said during his acceptance speech. “There’s so many other great people in this category. I stand up, and I play music. That’s what I try to do every night. I write songs, and I make records. I never thought of myself as somebody who’d win this award. I’m so grateful for each and every person who works so hard to make us able to do what we do — my wife Morgane, thank you.”

After thanking his management company, record label, his band and crew, he dedicated the award to his five children. “I’m really at a loss of what to say, but I want to say, my kids sitting at home, they give up a lot of my time, a lot of my wife’s time so we can do this. This is for them.”

Backstage, Chris said he was grateful for the amazing support he’s received. “I’m humbled by it and feel very thankful to the people that voted for me for it and think I’m deserving of that, but I’ll take it. I’ll take it.”

Chris also said he’ll celebrate the win by heading home and sleeping in his own bed.

“It is, I mean, obviously such an honor to be nominated in Entertainer of the Year. Obviously, that’s such a tough category to be in, ‘cause there’s just so, I don’t even want to call it competition, there’s just so many hard working artists out there that are just you know pouring themselves and their time and their energy and their love and their artistry into what they do. You know, obviously just to even be in the final category is just absolutely amazing and hopefully, above all, we can all just remember that it’s a celebration of a great year in country music and in our careers as artists, so we’ll just see what happens, but definitely excited to be in that category.”

(Michael) This morning, April 13th, we woke up and to be able to see Bobby Bones do the nominations for the ACMS ad get to the category of Duo of the Year, and we were just callin’ ‘em out. We were like, ‘Brooks & Dunn,’ ‘Dan + Shay,’ and we were like ‘Brothers Osborne,’ Brothers Osborne, yes! Dan + Shay, Dan + Shay, and we was like, ‘Yes.’ We were like, ‘Maddie & Tae,’ we was like ‘Yes,’ and then time slowed down. They were like The War and Treaty. And honestly, we burst into tears, we screamed, we yelled, we high-fived, we hugged our manager, Christina. In our minds then traveled back in time and forward. We traveled to Charly Pride, DeFord Bailey and Ray Charles, and we were like, ‘I hope they’re seeing this wherever they are, and I hope they’re dancing and high-fiving as well. Thank you, ACMs.” TANYA: “Thank you so much to the ACMs and everybody who’s nominated and all of our peers in country music.”
