Audio / Luke Bryan says “Rollercoaster” is one of the best songs on his Crash My Party album.

    Download

Luke Bryan (Roller Coaster) OC: …’Rollercoaster.’ :51
“‘Rollercoaster’ is what I feel like is just a dang, just a masterpiece from front to back. It has all the levels of going back to young love and that feeling of sitting on the beach and young love that you lost, that you’ve let slip through your hands. And so many people have done that, and the way they hook it, ‘girl, you’ve got me twisted like an old beach rollercoaster,’ is just when you hear that line snap down in me, it’s just chill bump city, a visual city. You could see them living that scene of having to part ways with one another.  Man it’s powerful! The second I heard it, I knew I was going to cut it. I drove right over to my producer’s house, I said, ‘This is one for the album,’ and we never even once wavered on whether or not to record ‘Rollercoaster.’”

Audio / Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley describes the differences between the lyrics and the melody of their No. 1 hit, “Bartender.”

    Lady A (Bartender) 2 OC: …something different. :20
“It’s always cool when you can capture kind of what feels like a fun track, but the lyrics are a little darker. When you really listen to the lyrics…it’s definitely a head-bopper, and then you kinda listen, and you’re like, ‘Man, this girl’s talking about literally drinking the pain away.’ And so I think those songs are always kind of cool when you can have that juxtaposition between the feel of a track and the lyrics being something different.”

NASHVILLE, Tenn., – May 7, 2015 – The Country Music Hall of Fame
® and Museum will explore the life and career of reigning CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan with the summer exhibition Luke Bryan: Dirt Road Diary presented by Citi, which opens May 22 and runs through November 8.

Opening weekend festivities will include a songwriter session on May 23 at 2 p.m. featuring Ashley Gorley and Rodney Clawson, who’ve written many #1 hits for Bryan. Family programming at 12:30 p.m. on May 23 will give visitors a chance to design their own album covers, inspired by Bryan’s work. Additional programming planned for the exhibition’s run will feature a performance August 1 by the Peach Pickers (Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson, and Ben Hayslip). The songwriters’ collaborations have yielded a string of #1 singles for fellow Georgian Bryan. And a conversation with Bryan’s producer, Jeff Stevens, will be part of the museum’s Music Masters series, on August 8. Visit countrymusichalloffame.org for details.

Luke Bryan: Dirt Road Diary will examine the singer-songwriter’s roots and rise to stardom. The son of a peanut farmer, Bryan was born and raised in a small town in Georgia, where he grew up fishing and hunting, singing in the church choir, and playing baseball. His parents gave him a guitar when he was fourteen, and soon Bryan was writing songs and leading his own band.  It took him twenty years of hard work and perseverance, but he is living his childhood dream.

For the exhibit, Bryan has loaned the museum a wealth of artifacts to represent his life and career. Highlights include:

  • LUKE BRYAN REVEALS HOSTING APPROACH FOR THIS YEAR’S ACM AWARDS.

Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton are co-hosting the ACM Awards for the third time together (Blake’s fourth time), and while they’ve been known to make jabs at their famous friends and fellow country music stars in the past, this year, it’ll be more reverence than jokes in their approach with their hosting duties.

“Our approach going in, the first two years, Blake and I would come in and we’d start trying to come up with funny stuff to roast people while we had the opportunity, but this year it’s a different vibe,” says Luke. “Once the show kicks off, we’ll be in different area codes running around making this happen. It is about relishing the 50 years and all of the icons that got us here, and I guess Blake and I, our approach will just honor the show the way it needs to be and have fun, have fun with it.”

Luke is nominated for Entertainer of the Year, as well as Male Vocalist, Song for “Drink a Beer” and Vocal Event of the Year with Florida Georgia Line for “This is How We Roll.”

The 50th Annual ACM Awards will be broadcast live from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas at 8pm ET on CBS.
