• SAM HUNT EXPERIENCES FIRST MAJOR AWARDS NOMINATION.

Sam Hunt  is one of the three finalists for ACM New Artist of the Year, and the nomination is an honor that he didn’t think would come this early on in his career.

“Being nominated for ACM New Artist of the Year is a huge honor,” says the Georgia native. “I still really feel like too new to be New Artist of the Year, but so many good things have happened over the last several months to allow us to reach so many people. It’s phenomenal. It’s phenomenal to be a part of this awards show having just put out a record a few months ago.”

The “Take Your Time” singer is thrilled that his best friends – his band – are along for the ride of a lifetime. ““I’ve enjoyed being on the road and touring with some of my best friends in the world. We’re all doing this for the first time. So, all these things we’re experiencing are firsts for all of us, and that is really what makes it special for me is the fact that I’m able to do that, to do what I’m doing and enjoy a lot of these cool things that are happening with my best buddies.”

Fan voting for both New Artist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year categories for the ACM Awards opens today (Wednesday, April 8th) and closes April 19th, just prior to the start of the show at 8pm ET. The fan votes will be tallied with the votes from ACM members to determine the final winners. Go to VoteACM.com to place your vote. The 50th Annual ACM Awards, hosted by Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton, will be broadcast live from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas at 8pm ET on CBS.

  • SAM HUNT ENTERS THE TOP 5 ON THE COUNTRY CHARTS.

Sam Hunt “Take Your Time” has entered the Top 5 on the country charts, and believe it or not, it was one of the first songs the Georgia native wrote for his debut album, Montevallo.

“‘Take Your Time’ is a song I wrote two or three years ago, and it was sort of my first experience using a unique cadence in the verses and flowing from that spoken thing into a melody and then back again,” says Sam. “It probably represents a lot of the R&B influence that a lot of my music has, and I’ve always been really attracted to that rhythmic style of music. It’s a song that I’ve had for a while and been most antsy about putting out, because it is one of the first songs I wrote when I started working on my own project.”

“Take Your Time” recently surpassed 500,000 in track sales, making it Sam’s second consecutive RIAA-certified Gold single as an artist, following the now Platinum-selling No. 1 smash, “Leave the Night On.”

He’s currently headlining his Lipstick Graffiti Tour, and is set to make his next stop on the tour March 29th in Ames, Iowa.

Audio / Sam Hunt says he was most antsy about releasing “Take Your Time” since it was one of the first songs he had written for his own album.

While the relationship between artists and fans is the foundation for the event, CMA Music Festival benefits music education programs for children in need. Wednesday morning, Thomas Rhett welcomed guests to Nashville Children’s Theatre for a performance of “Jack’s Tale: A Mythic Mountain Musical,” which was funded by a $10,000 grant from the CMA Foundation from the 2014 CMA Music Festival. Threats of snow in Nashville prevented a majority of students from attending, but he warmly greeted the enthusiastic crowd.

“When I was little I was in a play called ‘A Christmas Carol’. I was Scrooge,” Thomas Rhett told the student-filled crowd. “Music education was super important for me, and today was a good reminder of how neat it is to see the Country Music community band together to help give back to that through CMA Fest.”
