Ontario native Josh Ross is making his way up the country charts with his song “Trouble,” his first single in the U.S. The reigning CCMA Breakthrough Artist of the Year co-wrote the song with Matt Thornley about by his own life after moving to Music City a few years ago.

Being in the studio to record “Trouble” was a special day for Josh, even though he had to go back and remember how he was feeling when he wrote the song. “Recording ‘Trouble’ was definitely a special day,” he says. “I think in certain ways it was kind of hard, because I had to kinda go back and remember how I felt when I wrote that song and kind of the place I was in in life then, but I think it also translates in the vocal and really feeling emotion in the song.”

Josh recently wrapped up his opening slot on Nickelback’s Get Rollin’ Tour, and he’s slated to perform in Del Mar, California on Thursday (October 12th), followed by a performance on the Grand Ole Opry on Tuesday (October 17th). Breakout country singer-songwriter Josh Ross unveils his most vulnerable song to date, “Ain’t The One,” out today (September 29th). Josh co-wrote “Ain’t The One” with Taylor Phillips, Jaxson Free, and Jon Kraft, and the track was produced by his frequent collaborator, Matt Geroux.

The track depicts the painful and relatable story of moving on from love. His honesty in the writing room was the key that unlocked the heartfelt lyrics and powerful vocals, mixed with the captivating guitar melodies to create a country-rock sound.

“My own relationships inspire my ideas,” says Josh. “I feel most comfortable just being honest in the writing room with what I want to say. One of the hardest things about being in a relationship is sometimes knowing that the person is better off without you and this song is all about that. ‘Ain’t The One’ is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written.”

The track follows his current chart-climbing single, “Trouble,” plus recent releases “Red Flags” and “Ain’t Doin’ Jack.”

Tallying more than 186 million global streams, making his Grand Ole Opry debut this past summer, and taking home the ‘Breakthrough Artist of the Year’ award at the 2023 Canadian Country Music Awards, Josh Ross continues to claim his place in country music.

Presenters have been announced for the first-ever People’s Choice Country Awards, taking place tonight (September 28TH). Brothers Osborne will present the Country Champion Award to Wynonna, while Blake Shelton will present the Country Icon Award to Toby Keith. Additional presenters include The War And Treaty, Mickey Guyton, Josh Ross, Carly Pearce, Dustin Lynch, Scotty McCreery, Leanne Morgan, Lady A  and others.

The People’s Choice Country Awards, hosted by Little Big Town, will air live from Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House beginning at 8pm ET/7pm CT on NBC and Peacock.

The Music Industry paid tribute to several artists including Chris Stapleton at the ACM Honors, which were filmed at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on August 23rd. Eric Church is one of the headliners for next year’s Stagecoach Festival, and he’ll be joined by Miranda Lambert and Morgan Wallen. Taking place on April 26th – April 28th, 2024, the annual country music festival will again be held at Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

Ontario native Josh Ross has released his new song, “Trouble,” to country radio, his first in the U.S. (going for adds June 12th). Co-writing the song with Matt Thornley, Josh says the tune is inspired by his own life after moving to Music City a few years ago.

“The inspiration behind the song ‘Trouble’ is a true story,” says Josh. “I moved to Nashville, Tennessee, it’ll be coming up on five years this fall. I was just going through a lot of adjustments in my life – my personal life, my career life – and kind of found myself in trouble maybe going out a little too much. At the time, I had lost a girlfriend that I was with and ‘Trouble’ kind of came from the idea of reaching out to her, getting her to try to help save me.”

Josh is already an established hitmaker in his home country with back-to-back Top 5 singles on Canadian country radio.
