  • LADY ANTEBELLUM’S HARD WORK PAID OFF WITH A PAIR OF CMA NOMINATIONS.

The members of Lady Antebellum have had a very busy year with releasing their new album, Heart Break, as well as launching and concluding their You Look Good World Tour. Their hard work has paid off with a pair of CMA nominations for Album of the Year for Heart Break and for Vocal Group of the Year.

    Charles, Hillary
and Dave rented places in Florida and in California to just write songs for their new project. “We were just thinking about how to get back to that spot, you know how we wrote and started for the first two records. It’s ‘cause we didn’t have any responsibilities. You could write a hundred songs a year, and we haven’t been able to do that since then,” says Charles. “So, Dave had the idea, he goes, ‘Let’s just get out of Nashville, man.’ We went down to Florida early in the fall and took a bunch of writers with us, and then we had this idea to move out to L.A., and we rented a house out there for like a month and found like another house with a home studio and called up our buddy busbee and the songs just kinda poured out like really fast. I bet we wrote the majority of this record in like what, a span of a month really. I mean just all these songs kinda just came out and ‘Heart Break,’ specifically, the title track, was when we felt like, okay, now we have kinda the hero song, so to speak, of the record and we can base everything around it.”

The 51st Annual CMA Awards, hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, will be broadcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Area November 8th at 8pm ET on ABC.

The group is currently climbing the country charts with their latest release, the title track from their album, Heart Break.

It was just this moment of like what is my life? What has happened in my life and whose life am I living? Everything that I’ve ever wanted has started happening, and it’s crazy.”

“I mean, I try not to get all ‘Oh, it’d be so awesome!’ It’d be amazing, but the real trophies have been No. 1’s and gold records and fans showing up to the shows. I mean, I’d love to have all of it and I’d love to get it, but you know how it is. Man, there’s a lot of guys doing good, and I want everybody to get the award, so I try not to be like just dreaming about it. ‘What if I got it?’ ‘It’d be so awesome.’ And the CMAs area always fun to go to anyway, so…”

Jon Pardi (Dirt on my Boots high on the charts) OC: …look out. [laughs] :37
“I knew when I heard it, it was a hit. It had something about it that was familiar something, like it had that radio sound. The demo, I just heard the melody and lyrics, and I just felt like, man, I think this is really gonna be like a jam. When we finished, I described ‘Dirt on My Boots’ as like the song that you pull up to the club or the party and you’ve got your windows down and you’re blaring ‘Dirt on My Boots.’ I always felt like that was what this song had. It has an attitude, it has a working man, it’s got taking out the girl and it’s got a great dance beat, and all those together, I knew it was gonna be a great song for radio.”

When Eric was mid-tour, he mentioned that the Holdin’ My Own Tour was pretty special. “I believe it’s exciting because I think it’s special, and I think when you look out there, it’s a special moment and it will be frozen in time. I do believe that when we look around at each other. I really believe that,” said Eric. “They realize that I’ve give everything I have and I realize, I’m telling ya, there’s many nights, I realize they give everything they have, because the fact that they stand all the way to the top wall and do not sit down for three-and-a-half hours; the only time they sit down is in half-time when I take my break. • LUKE BRYAN’S FIRST CMA ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR AWARD LEFT HIM FEELING HE WAS NOW PART OF A CLUB.

Luke Bryan is once again nominated for the CMA Entertainer of the Year award, which he has won twice before in 2014 and 2015.

The Georgia native explains winning his first CMA Entertainer of the Year award was life-altering. “Winning my first CMA Entertainer of the Year award is something that I’ll never forget. It’s all of those memories of everything it took to get here and all the sacrifices and all the honkytonks and the late-night concerts and moving to Nashville and leaving your family and your friends, it all came together on that night,” says Luke. “To get that from your peers of fellow country music artists was pretty amazing. You never forget it. You forever feel vindicated and you feel appreciated and you feel like you’re a member of a club, and you know no matter how long you live that you left an indelible mark on this industry based on how you go about it, how you entertain and perform.”

As a matter of fact, his first CMA Entertainer award was his first ever CMA Award he’d ever won.

“Definitely looking back and winning my first CMA Entertainer of the Year award is something that I’ll never forget. Luke Bryan (CMA Entertainer win) OC: …hard to describe. 1:05
“To try to understand you would win your first CMA Award and it’s the Entertainer of the Year…I have longed and sought after many years to get one of these in my hands. To get the respect of the CMA Board and all of its voters and win this is a ginormous deal, something I could not express out on stage when I was winning it, but I can’t help but in the back of my mind want some of that respect from this body of people. So, I’m just really humbled. I think about just the hard work it took to get here, and I’m really just so blessed that this is from the CMA and I’ll never take a second of it for granted. I, honestly from the bottom of my heart, I go out on stage every night and try to sing it and perform it and entertain it like it’s my last and now, it’s like, Whew! It’s hard to describe.”

  • CHRIS STAPLETON’S TOUR SET WAS BUILT TO HOUSE MANY FUNCTIONS ON THE ROAD.

Chris Stapleton has three nominations going into this year’s CMA Awards. He’s up for Male Vocalist, Album of the Year for From A Room: Volume 1 AND Entertainer of the Year.

Earlier this year, Chris launched his All-American Road Show, along with rotating special guests including Brothers Osborne, Lucie Silvas, Brent Cobb, Margo Price, Marty Stuart and more. The tour features a very cool set and lighting grid, which has more than one function by design.

“It all functions from a sonic place. I built, people look at it and it looks like a Thunderdome and don’t know what it is. It’s a giant diffuser is what it is, so it’s meant to tune a stage every night to a certain, we cut out all the bad bass and all the bad high and so, garbage in and garbage out. A-it helps us hear better on stage and we don’t have to wear any in-ears (monitors), but also it hopefully gives more consistencies sonically in the show,” says Chris. “Now, after we built it, we put some lights on it and it happens to look like the Death Star or something, but that’s how we wanted to approach music. We still stand in basically the same configuration we would stand in a 300-person club; we’re just in a bigger room and we made our own little room on stage that hopefully makes us feel a little more cozy, and hopefully the result is that it seems to be to try to create some of that feeling in a much larger room, you know? Some of the intimacy of playing a smaller place in a larger room would be my hope and dream for how that works.”

The Kentucky native has climbed inside the Top 30 with his latest song, “Broken Halos,” which is from his most recent album, From A Room: Volume 1. Chris’ new album, From A Room: Volume 2, is set for release December 1st.

Chris continues his All-American Road Show this week with stops in Charleston, West Virginia on Thursday (November 2nd), Columbus, Ohio on Friday (November 3rd) and Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday (November 4th).

Catch Chris at the 51st Annual CMA Awards, which will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena November 8th at 8pm ET on ABC.

“Well, the set’s actually — I haven’t talked a whole lot about it – but it all functions from a sonic place. I built, people look at it and it looks like a Thunderdome and don’t know what it is. It’s a giant diffuser is what it is, so it’s meant to tune a stage every night to a certain, we cut out all the bad bass and all the bad high and so, garbage in and garbage out. Chris Stapleton (tour set) 2 OC: …some of that. :18
“Dreaming up things on napkins over years, I would always draw things like ‘What can I do to make this better and easier to play on and in and hopefully have the result of something that sounds better up front?’ This is a march in that direction and hopefully it achieves some of that.”
