When you really listen to the lyrics…it’s definitely a head-bopper, and then you kinda listen, and you’re like, ‘Man, this girl’s talking about literally drinking the pain away.’ And so I think those songs are always kind of cool when you can have that juxtaposition between the feel of a track and the lyrics being something different.”

    Keith Urban’s “Raise ‘Em Up,” featuring Eric Church, today hit No. 1 on both the Billboard Country Airplay Chart and the Country Aircheck/Mediabase Country Chart, raising his total of chart-toppers to 18. The song is his fourth No. 1 from his album FUSE, which also includes “Little Bit Of Everything,” (August 26, 2013) “We Were Us” (November 25, 2013) and “Somewhere In My Car.” (November 24, 2014).

    FUSE, Urban’s seventh studio album, has been one of the most recognized recordings of his career.  It’s release marked the only time in history that a male Country artist has captured the #1 all-genre album chart simultaneously in the U.S., Canada and Australia.  In addition, the album led to more than twenty-two worldwide award nominations including multiple CMA (Country Music Association), ACM (Academy of Country Music) and Aria Award wins.

    “Raise ‘Em Up”, written by Jaren Johnston, Jeffrey Steele and Tom Douglas, was co-produced by Nathan Chapman and Urban, also marks Urban’s 18th No. 1 in Canada.

But she’s a great role model for them anyway and always has been, whether she did anything professionally or not. So, I think it was a very good thing for the kids to see that.”

It would have killed me.”

One of those people that’s been through a lot in her life, adversity wise and never complains, always really resilient with anything that’s happened to her. And it’s just that attitude, the positive attitude, regardless of what has happened that I think is the one thing that I got from her. With career, she’s always been a person that’s been really positive through times that I couldn’t find a positive streak, [laughs] and she was always really positive, and very much believes in tough it out, keep working hard, and that’s her motto with stuff like that. I’ve always been impressed with that stuff. Then musically, she’s where I get my talent from, musically. She sings great, always has, her mom sang great. I owe my musical chops to her. And she still sings some. So, career-wise, I owe her everything. And just in life-wise she’s given me a lot of the qualities that it has taken for me to get me where I am.   • KEITH URBAN FELT ‘RAISE ‘EM UP’ WAS A PERFECT COLLABORATION WITH ERIC CHURCH.

    One of Keith Urban’s favorite records is Eric Church’s Chief, and the two became friends over the course of the past few years. The two started sharing music that the other one may not have heard, which led to their collaboration on Keith’s latest album, Fuse.

    “He’d be turning me on to new music, and I’d be texting him about something, ‘You’ve got to listen to (1975’s) Bankrupt by Dr. Hook.’ We’re trying to hip each other to records that we love that the other guy hasn’t heard,” says Keith. “That sort of banter started happening fairly regularly, and I thought I’d really like to do something with Eric on my record, if I find the right song. And this song called ‘Raise ‘Em Up’ came along.”

    “Raise ‘Em Up” didn’t start out as a duet, but Keith said it “struck” him as the perfect song for him and Eric to record together.

    “There’s a particular theme really in the song, particularly in the second verse that I felt was just perfect for Eric. I sent him the song, and he loved it. And I was really happy that he came in and sang on it.”

    “Raise ‘Em Up,” the fifth single from Fuse, is poised to hit the top of the country charts.

    Eric Church, Alan Jackson, Kip Moore, Keith Urban and Lady Antebellum are a few of the latest performers announced for the 3rd Annual ACM Party for a Cause Festival, taking place in Arlington, Texas April 17th and 18th. They’re joined by John Anderson, Deana Carter, Brandy Clark, Brett Eldredge, Sara Evans, Brantley Gilbert, Hunter Hayes, Ashley Monroe, David Lee Murphy, Joe Nichols, Jake Owen, Reba, Marty Stuart, Cole Swindell, Brooks & Dunn and The Band Perry.

    Previously announced performers include Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Patty Loveless, Ronnie Milsap, Dwight Yoakam, Alabama, Eli Young Band Clint Black and Florida Georgia Line.

    The event will be taped for a two hour special, ACM Presents: Superstar Duets, which will air May 15th on the CBS. Proceeds from ticket sales for the ACM Party for a Cause Festival will benefit ACM Lifting Lives, the charitable arm of the Academy.
